Weekly Adult Discipleship Growth Groups
Winter/Spring 2012

"Growth Groups" are places where Christians gather to study, pray, and engage in respectful, challenging conversation in order to be formed more in the image of Jesus. These are also groups of various sizes and can be on-going, long-term, or short-term.

Registration is not required for Growth Groups unless specifically noted on the descriptions below.


On-going & Long-Term Growth Groups | Short-Term Growth Groups

Sundays

Connections: Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, this class is a wonderful way to "get connected" more closely with God and others. Meeting times are 9:30 (Special Events Dining Room, building C) & 11:00 a.m. (Office Conference Room, building C.)

Koinonia: This class of dynamic senior adults studies a variety of different topics and supports one another with prayer and care throughout the week. Meeting time is 9:30 a.m., begins September 11, room B202.

Legacy: This fun-loving group of young parents is currently studying, "Sacred Parenting." Meeting time is 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon in the Attic located on the 2nd floor of Building C. On the first Sunday of the month they attend "PowerHouse," our family worship experience during the regular class time. Children ages 5 and up are welcome to be checked into A201 for some age appropriate spiritual formation and fun provided by the Children's Ministries. Younger children can be signed into their Sunday School/Nursery rooms in building B. There are no books to buy or homework, so come join us!

New Directions: A great group of primarily "empty nesters" committed to both study and service.  Meeting time is 9:30 a.m., room C205/207.

Pathways:This class is welcomes all visitors as each week they enjoy DVD studies on a variety of topics that connect faith with daily life. Beginning April 22nd they will start a new study, "Gospel in Life: Grace Changes Everything." Meeting time is 9:30 a.m., C208.

Sunday Morning Singles: This is a brand new group beginning Sunday, April 22 and will start by offering a study of John Ortberg's, "The Me I Want to Be." Designed for singles between the ages of 45-60's, this class promises the joy of learning, and developing a new community of friends. Meeting time is 11:00 a.m., C205-207.

United Methodist Men Fellowship Café: Come and join this group of men for meaningful discussion and fellowship. Meeting time is 9:30 a.m., Welcome Hall, building C.

Tuesday

Plugged-In: A women’s group that uses a variety of resources throughout the year that encourages participants to connect with each other and grow in their faith. Meeting time is 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, Special Events Dining Room, building C. They will be studying, John Ortberg’s, “The Old Testament Challenge.

Young Adult Professionals:This group comes together on Tuesday evenings twice a month for fellowship and topical discussion. They address relevant issues like forgiveness, identity, money and spiritual direction which leaves lots of room for open-ended conversation. Meeting time is 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Attic, building C.

Wednesday

Ambassadors: A women’s Bible study grounded in spiritual conversation, connection and care. Meeting time is 10:00-noon, C200/202. They will begin the 10-week study, “God as He Longs for Us to See Him,” on Jan. 4.

Discovery Class:A welcoming and supportive women’s group gathers weekly for prayer, study and fellowship. Meeting time is 9:30-11:00 a.m., C210. On Jan. 4, they will begin the 9- week study “Reflections of Hope.”

 Morning Edition: This growth group will use a variety of resources throughout the year to both engage and challenge participants. Beginning April 11th they will be studying, "Becoming More than a Good Bible Study Girl." Meeting time is 8:00 - 9:00 a.m., Office Conference Room, building C.

Thursday

Women's Morning Group: A growth group that uses a variety of resources throughout the year to encourage and support participants on their spiritual journey. They also spend one Thursday a month during the group time doing a service project together. Meeting time is 9:45-11:00 a.m., begins Jan. 5, B214. They will be studying, “When Helping Hurts.”

Topical Study with Pastor Beth: Come and enjoy the engaging DVD based study, "Gospel in Life: Grace Changes Everything," by best-selling author Tim Keller. A great overview of the Christian life and faith! Meeting time is 6:30 - 7:30 p.m., B209- the Choir Room (all ages, couples and singles)

Friday

Men's Discussion Group: Open to men who are committed to faith, growth, and encouragement.  Meet at Bravo on Sand Lake Road from 7:00 - 8:00 a.m.  Contact Scott Ziegler at sziegler1@cfl..rr.com
