Dinner for Eight Guidelines

General Information:
The Dinner for Eight is a wonderful way to meet other St. Luke’s members in a very casual setting…in a host’s home.

The kick-off scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, will provide everyone the opportunity to meet the participants in the Dinner for Eight. Host dinners will begin in October through April of the following year with major events for everyone in December for our holiday celebration and May will be the grand finale for the year. Couples will be placed with different members each month for fellowship.

This year’s Committee for the Dinner for Eight is:
Brian & Tania Mark, Chair (407) 797-4685 Jack & Jane Ice (407) 351-5594
Bob & Carolyn Ridgway (407) 996-0380 Steve & Mary Holloway (407) 909-9187
Mike & Joyce Sundar (407) 253-3993 Art & Karen Brown (407) 876-5532
Dr. David Stephens, Minister of Nurture & Growth (407) 876-4991 ext. 233

Guidelines:

  • The host will receive a call from a Dinner for Eight Coordinator (listed on the top of the month’s schedule) and an email reminder the month prior to their hosting a dinner to remind them to call their guests and set a date for their month.
  • The host is responsible for contacting the members in their group the month prior and provides several date options for the dining experience (typically the dinner is on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday). Please focus on getting the date confirmed with the group, you can inform them of the entrée and directions later.
  • As host, should you find your assigned members cannot attend, please feel free to contact another host to combine your dinners, call a church friend or contact your Dinner for Eight for that month.
  • The host is responsible for the entrée and beverages. Guests are given the choice of bringing hors d’ oeuvres, salad and bread, vegetable, or dessert.
  • The meal may be casual to a formal sit down. It can be an evening or a brunch. Eating out is not recommended.
  • Emergencies:
    1. Guests must assume responsibility for the success of the dinner. If an emergency arises after arrangements have been make for the dinner and you are unable to participate, you should contact the host as soon as possible. Please don’t leave the host couple expecting you, and you not show.
    2. If the host has an emergency and cannot take the responsibility of hosting the dinner in your assigned month, please contact the Dinner for Eight Coordinator for that month.
