Dinner for Eight FAQ
Do I have to host?
Yes, hosting is a wonderful way to share your home with others and provide them with insight into your life and environment. Plus it is 1-2 dinners that you have some control over!
How many times will I have to host?
Our group is of the size that you should only host 1-2 times during the season. However, working with the monthly coordinator gives you flexibility and options. Our goal is ensure that everyone has an enjoyable dining experience.
What happens if a couple cannot make the date selected by the majority?
Please contact your coordinator for that month or Dinner for Eight Chair, Tania Mark at flamboyanst@aol.com and they will help that couple to be included in a dining experience.
Will I meet different people or see the same ones?
When the initial rooster is established you will dine with different people each month; however, if hosts decide to combine their dinner nights, this may result in seeing the same people more than once. But is it so much fun to see people again and get to know them better, no one ever complains.
Will there be children there?
Dinner for Eight is for couples and there should not be children. However, sometimes there may be children in the home but their presence should not interfere with the evening.
How long does it last?
Most of the dining experiences last three hours, give or take a half hour. Time flies by and everyone is amazed that amount of time has elapsed, again, great company and great food, what a delightful combination.
Do you have to have a dinner?
Dinners are the most common; however, as host you may decide to offer other options beside a dinner. There have been lunches and brunches on Sunday following church. When the host sends out the initial announcement offering date options to the guest, offering different times may be included. Usually the decision is based on the majority of the group.
Can we meet at a restaurant?
Yes you can; however, we encourage the experience be in the home as it provides for a more relaxed and intimate setting.
Can I invite another couple in addition to or replacement of a couple that is not a member of Dinner for Eight?
Yes, you can and of course we hope they will want to join for the next season. If you find a couple cannot make the date that has been selected by the majority, please contact your coordinator so they can help find that couple a dinner to attend.
