Church to Church Partnership - Ethiopia

A pilot program

St. Luke's UMC was selected out hundreds of churches across the nation to participate in a pilot program through Compassion International. The goal of this ministry is to develop a partnership based on mutual relationship with a church in Ethiopia, Lideta Mekané Yesus Church.

Both St. Luke's and Lideta Mekané Yesus were selected to be partners in the pilot program based on the churches already existing reputations in their communities as organized centers and leaders of outreach. Through the help of Compassion International both St. Luke's and Mekané Yesus will be advocates for children to release them from their spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enabling them to become responsible and fulfilled Christian adults.

Wakjira, a sponsored child who graduated from kindergarten. He receives education, health care, supplemental feeding and clothing through the sponsorship program.

Several opportunities to be involved

Ground work - joint the planning ministry team and help in setting up guidelines and goals for the partnership

Grow together - be a part of a small group bible study to learn about poverty and your call to serve.

Pray together - be a part of a prayer team to send in our request and receive the prayers from our partnering church in Ethiopia.

Share compassion - sponsor a child for $38 a month.
