St. Luke's seeks to obtain individuals who possess our vision of Building the Kingdom by Building Disciples to join its staff.
Position Title: Director of Marketing and Communications
Position Description: Direct and implement St. Luke’s United Methodist Church’s overall strategic marketing plan as well as all internal and external communications. Facilitate congregational and community development through marketing and services to these demographics.
Directly Reports to: Executive Director of Operations
Supervisory Responsibilities: Graphic Designer (Currently outsourced)
Duties:
- Research, develop and implement a Brand and Communication strategy, standards and practices church-wide that elicit the behavior, emotion and objectives of St. Luke’s and The United Methodist Church.
- Develop St. Luke’s core brand identity with input from Staff Leadership Team and ministry leaders for all internal and external communications
- Develop key messages for all audiences to communicate core brand identity
- Write and/or edit all press releases, copy for marketing materials, advertisements, web content and other related material.
- Work closely with the Manager of Informational Services to ensure all web based messaging is consistent with overall marketing and communications objectives
- Plan and administer St. Luke’s Marketing Operations budget in conjunction with the Executive Director of Operations
- Organize and implement tools for feedback on success of marketing plan
- Surveys
- Training
- Special events
- Design review process for all communication tools to ensure consistency of message and look
- Manage multiple request from ministry areas (i.e. customers) as well as outside vendor relationships
- Act as editor and coach with all ministry areas to ensure consistency of message and look
- Ensure all weekly print/digital needs are produced in timely manner
- Create a Laity Advisory Board to act as filter for ideas, creative concepts, etc. Use members of this board to assist in any specific tasks related to marketing, communication, public relations, etc.
General Ministry Management:
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Attend monthly Worship Design Meetings
- Attend monthly Leadership Team Meeting
- Attend Directors’ Meetings, as called
- Schedule and attend Communication Advisory Board meetings as needed
- Attend Visioning Meetings and develop communication plan on 3-5 year vision
Desired Qualifications:
- College degree with concentration in marketing or communications
- At least 5 years experience in marketing field with preference for experience in non-profit work.
- Writing and editing skills ensuring the desired message is consistently presented in all print and digital media
- Strong leadership and consensus building skills; marketing management and strategic planning experience with a proven track record
- Must be comfortable working in a religious organization where attendance at worship is an expectation
